Pace Groups

08/29 Training Run, 4:15 Group

It was twenty degrees cooler today than it's been, and that made all the difference.  We really breezed through our 14 miles today, running much faster than we should be.  Here are the results:

Distance: 14.01 miles

Time: 2:12:33

Average Pace: 9:28 min/mile (WOW!)

Calories Burned: 1979

Clearly we're in great shape.  Since we ran more than a half-marathon, I've got a half-marathon time for us too:

Distance: 13.10 miles

Time: 2:03:53

Average Pace: 9:27 min/mile ( DOUBLE WOW!)

I know it felt easy, but next week we're going to slow down a bit and get into the rhythm of running at our correct pace.  We've got 15 miles next week, which is some serious running--2 spurs, and touching the wall.  Let's have fun doing it.

08/22 Training Run, 4:15 Group

It was not, but thanks to some cool water we made it.  Even though I held everyone back a few times, we still made an excellent time:

Time: 1:56:29

Distance: 12.02 miles

Average Pace: 9:42 minute/mile

Calories Burned: 1688

Like I said, fun stuff.  I'm looking forward to next week, when we run 14 miles together.  Should be another quick, fun run.

08/15 Training Run, 4:15 Group

Despite reports of a heat wave, it was actually quite cool and pleasant as we ran 10 miles together Sunday morning.  Here are the results:

Time:1:36:18

Distance:10.01 miles

Average Pace: 9:38 min/mile

Calories Burned: 1412

Yes, we went pretty fast.  Running in the cool instead of the hot will do that.  We shouldn't look to try to break that pace anytime soon.  As we start adding distance, it will come down naturally.

See you all next Sunday.

08/01 Training Run, 4:15 Group

It was a little bit cooler, and that made all the difference.  We kept a pretty good pace--maybe a little too fast for this time of year--but slowed down when the sun came out in that last two miles.  Here are the final numbers:

Time:1:48:43

Distance:11.16 miles

Average Pace: 9:45 min/mile

Calories Burned: 1579

Pretty good for the first of August, I think.  We're sticking together well and people are having a lot of fun out there, which is the most important thing.  Well, after avoiding injury.

Join us net Sunday when we'll run our first spur of the season, as we tackle twelve terrific miles.

7/25 Training Run, 4:15 Pace Group

For the third week in a row, we ran an easy ten miles.  I think we're getting the hang of this.  Here are the numbers:

Time:1:37:52

Distance: 10.00 miles

Average Pace:9:47 minute/mile

Calories Burned: 1409

It's good that we slowed it down.  This is the time of year to be getting used to long runs, not setting land speed records or even notching PRs.

We are right on track.  Next week, we'll run 11 miles, so at long last we get to touch the wall before turning around.  It should be great fun for everyone.
